Expat Jakarta is a directory of the services foreigners actually need when they live in or move to Jakarta. It covers ten categories — international schools, visa and immigration consultants, hospitals and clinics, relocation firms and movers, expat housing and serviced apartments, corporate lawyers and company-formation specialists, Bahasa Indonesia language schools, veterinary clinics and pet shippers, tax and accounting firms, and the chambers of commerce and community organisations that make a city of thirty million people feel navigable.
Jakarta has excellent expat services. What it does not have is a single, reliable place to find them. Providers are scattered across a vast metropolitan area, rarely market themselves in English, and often rank poorly in search behind aggregators carrying stale or invented data. Most newcomers assemble their list of contacts slowly over their first year, through school parent groups, WhatsApp chats and word of mouth. This directory is an attempt to compress that year into an afternoon.
Every entry was researched individually from the provider's own official website. Addresses, phone numbers, WhatsApp lines, email addresses and Google Maps locations are recorded as the business publishes them, not scraped from third-party aggregators. Each description is written specifically for this directory and explains what the provider actually does, including the accreditations and permit categories that matter — JCI and KARS for hospitals, CIS, WASC and SPK licensing for schools, FIDI and IPATA for movers and pet shippers, IB and Cambridge for curricula.
Every listing carries a photograph sourced from the provider, and each image URL was verified as live before publication. No listing appears here without one.
In Jakarta, distance decides everything. A provider that is excellent but ninety minutes away in traffic is not a provider you will use. Every listing records the neighbourhood or satellite city it operates from — Kemang, Menteng, SCBD and Sudirman, Pondok Indah, Kelapa Gading, PIK, Bintaro, BSD City, Tangerang, and the five DKI municipalities — and the area filter is the fastest way to narrow the directory to what is genuinely reachable from where you live or work.
Businesses change addresses, phone numbers and opening hours, and directories go stale if nobody tells them.
