British School Jakarta (BSJ) was founded in 1973 with the support of the British Embassy and moved to its present 45-acre campus in Bintaro Jaya Sektor 9 in 1994. It is the largest purpose-built international school campus in Greater Jakarta, with playing fields, swimming pools, a recently opened sports arena, and separate kindergarten, primary and secondary buildings serving children from age two through Year 13.

Teaching follows the English Early Years Foundation Stage and the English National Curriculum through primary, before moving into the IB Middle Years Programme in Years 7 to 11 and the IB Diploma Programme in Years 12 and 13. BSJ is accredited by the Council of International Schools, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the International Baccalaureate, holds Indonesian national accreditation, and is a member of COBIS, FOBISIA (a founding member), SEASAC and the Heads' Conference. It is also an Apple Distinguished School for 2025-2027.

The school sits on the Bintaro/Pondok Aren side of South Tangerang, making it the natural choice for expat families living in Bintaro, Pondok Indah and BSD, and it runs an extensive bus network across South Jakarta. Fees cover textbooks, stationery and IB examination entry.
