Gandhi Memorial Intercontinental School Jakarta

Gandhi Memorial Intercontinental School (GMIS) traces its roots to 1950, making it one of the longest-established international schools in Indonesia. The Jakarta campus has been on Jl. HBR Motik in Kota Baru Bandar Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, since 2004, and the school also runs sister campuses in Bali and Semarang. It teaches from nursery through to Grade 12 and draws students from dozens of nationalities.

GMIS has been an authorised IB World School since 1996 and today offers the full IB continuum: the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, Diploma Programme and the Career-related Programme for students who want a more vocational route in Grades 11 and 12. A Cambridge pathway runs alongside it, with IGCSE in the middle years, and the school says it was Jakarta's first Cambridge International Examinations centre. Teaching is in English, with Indonesian, Hindi, French and Mandarin among the languages offered.

For expat families living in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Kelapa Gading or the north of the city, GMIS is one of the few full IB schools that avoids the daily drive to the South Jakarta school belt. Published fees sit well below the big South Jakarta international schools, though they vary by grade, so confirm the current schedule with admissions. Campus tours are booked through the school's WhatsApp line.
