Jakarta Intercultural School

Jakarta Intercultural School (JIS) is the city's largest and longest-established international school, tracing its origins to 1951 when it was founded as the Joint Embassy School. It educates students from Early Years (age 3) through Grade 12 across three campuses in South Jakarta: the main Cilandak campus on Jl. Terogong Raya, which houses middle and high school, plus dedicated elementary campuses at Pondok Indah and Pattimura in Kebayoran Baru.

Academically, JIS runs an American-style programme through elementary and middle school, with high school students choosing between the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, the IB Career-related Programme, and College Board Advanced Placement courses. The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Council of International Schools (CIS), is an authorised IB World School, and is a member of EARCOS. It has held Apple Distinguished School status for a decade, with one-to-one Apple devices used across the divisions.

For relocating families, JIS is the default reference point in South Jakarta: a student body drawn from more than 70 nationalities, extensive arts, athletics and activities programmes, a Learning Center for students needing additional support, and campuses set among mature grounds a short drive from the Pondok Indah, Cilandak and Kemang expat housing areas.
