Language Schools

You can get by in Jakarta on English, but Bahasa Indonesia is one of the easier languages to learn: no tones, no gender and no verb conjugation. A few months of lessons changes daily life.

Most schools here teach Indonesian to foreigners. Look for BIPA-trained teachers and CEFR-aligned courses. Options include one-to-one lessons, small groups, online classes, company training and short intensive courses. Most will send a teacher to your home or office, and most offer a free trial lesson.

By area: in South Jakarta, Language Studies Indonesia runs university-accredited Bahasa programmes in Cipete and SIB School of Language also teaches English and Mandarin. In Central Jakarta, Bahasa Indonesia For Expats trains expats, diplomats and corporate teams. In the north, IF Language Center in PIK 2 offers a BIPA programme alongside Mandarin.
