Work out where you would go in an emergency before you need to know. Jakarta has excellent private healthcare, but quality varies sharply.

The list covers international-standard hospitals with 24-hour emergency, ICU and specialist centres (look for JCI or KARS Paripurna accreditation), plus expat-friendly clinics for GP visits, vaccinations and KITAS medicals.

In Jakarta traffic, the nearest good emergency department matters more than the best one across town. South Jakarta families usually use Pondok Indah Hospital or MMC in Kuningan, and Medistra Hospital is a little further along Jl. Gatot Subroto; further south, near Cilandak and the Lebak Bulus MRT, there is Mayapada Hospital Jakarta Selatan. In Menteng and the city centre there is Abdi Waluyo Hospital on Jl. HOS Cokroaminoto. In the north there is Mitra Keluarga Kelapa Gading, Royal Progress Hospital in Sunter and, for PIK and Pluit, Pantai Indah Kapuk Hospital; in the west Siloam Kebon Jeruk and Pondok Indah Hospital Puri Indah, in the east RS Premier Jatinegara, in Bintaro Pondok Indah Hospital Bintaro Jaya, in BSD Eka Hospital, in Tangerang Mayapada Hospital Tangerang at Modernland, and in the eastern industrial corridor Siloam Lippo Cikarang. For specialist cancer care, MRCCC Siloam Hospitals Semanggi sits just off Jalan Sudirman.
